Daniel Vivian

Daniel Vivian is a historian of the nineteenth- and twentieth-century United States who has been active in historic preservation throughout his career. He earned his PhD at the Johns Hopkins University and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Historic Preservation at the University of Kentucky. Before pursing an academic career, he held positions with the South Carolina State Historic Preservation Office and the National Register of Historic Places program of the National Park Service. His research concentrates on historical memory of slavery during the era of Jim Crow.
