Stand With Us to Protect Central Kentucky’s History
The Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation is leading one of our most urgent advocacy efforts in recent memory: saving Lexington’s historic East Maxwell corridor. For generations, these tree-lined streets have connected our community—its homes, churches, and businesses telling the story of Lexington’s growth and resilience. Yet already, two blocks in this neighborhood have fallen to profit-driven development, and the fate of a third now hangs in the balance.
Unfortunately, the forces now threatening East Maxwell are not isolated. These same pressures are endangering historic neighborhoods and landmarks across Central Kentucky. If unchecked, they risk erasing not just buildings, but the character, beauty, and sense of place that make our region unique.
As we have learned time and again over our seventy-year history, preservation is never guaranteed. It demands vigilance, expertise, and the collective voice of a community unwilling to stand by while history is lost. That is why the Blue Grass Trust is on the front lines—working with neighbors, raising awareness, and advocating for stronger protections. But we cannot succeed without you.
