Living History
Dear Friends:
What is your vision for the Bluegrass Region’s future? Does it include a harmonious blend of exciting new architecture that honors the historic built environment? How about a well-planned, accessible Arts & Entertainment District? Exciting arts events? An expanding residential presence in downtown Lexington? Great restaurants, watering holes and retail stores in interesting spaces?
We agree! And at the Blue Grass Trust, we have been actively working to meet these goals. It has been a successful year – and with your help, the Blue Grass Trust will be able to continue our mission to protect and preserve Lexington’s built and natural environment – creating a living history – for years to come.
Take a look at some of our recent work to advance the cause of preservation and historic integrity
here in the Bluegrass:
*Worked with the Aylesford Neighborhood Association to save three historic houses
*Served as a consulting party on the Eastern State Hospital/Bluegrass Community &
Technical College project
*Participated in LexArts Gallery Hop and DLC’s Mayfest in Gratz Park
*Initiated BGT’s “deTours” for young (and young at heart!) professionals interested in touring and learning about Lexington’s diverse historic properties
*Launched a series of free public workshops, thanks in part to a grant from the
Virginia Clark Hagan Foundation
*Welcomed thousands of guests to the Hunt-Morgan House and Latrobe’s Pope Villa
The BGT, our Board members and/or staff also:
-serve on the Courthouse Area Design Review Board
-worked on Mayor Gray’s Transition Team for Public Works
-co-sponsored UK’s Historic Preservation Symposium on Adaptive Reuse
-have a seat on the Arena, Arts and Entertainment District Task Force
-participated in the Citizen’s Planning Committee
-serve on the LFUCG’s Historic Preservation Commission
-working as a consulting party on the LexTran Project
-made the Hunt-Morgan House handicap accessible
The living history work of the Blue Grass Trust is 100% funded by you: we receive no city/state/federal funding. That is why your financial assistance is crucial to continue our work protecting, preserving and promoting our vital living history that benefits everyone who lives, works and visits the Bluegrass. Please consider making a generous donation to our annual operating campaign. Your support can be a one-time gift or a multi-year pledge.
You can donate easily and securely online, or contact us at the Trust and we will mail you an annual campaign packet. In the letter you will find a pledge form and a space on that form for you to tell us what your vision of Living History is! We need your financial assistance and want your ideas to continue our work. Thank you for your willingness to participate in Lexington’s future with us.
Sincerely,

Linda Carroll
